Getting it done
Buy Douglas: Build Douglas (BDBD) was launched in May 2020 as a partnership between Douglas Shire Council, the Douglas Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Port Douglas Daintree and Jabalbina Aboriginal Corporation. As a ‘buy local’ initiative, BDBD encourages locals and visitors to spend their money in the Douglas Shire and build the economy in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, the region emerged as one of the most affected regions in Queensland, with a loss of almost 1,000 jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars lost from the local economy. With international borders remaining closed until at least mid-2022, the path to a recovered state will be drawn out over years to come.
Saturate was engaged to rebrand BDBD to "Do it in Douglas". The project also included an online content hub and business directory and a series of short film and stills stories on locals to direct the mass exodus of Sydney and Melbourne towards Port Douglas through a locals lens. Our goal was to tell intimate emotive stories and present them on a brand platform that would encourage instant adoption and interest in the region.
